When to apply

Applications are due: 

  • Oct 15 – January Spring cohort
  • April 30 – August Fall cohort

Applications do not need to be completed in one sitting. When you submit your application, you will pay a $100 non-refundable application fee. Applications will be reviewed when all materials have been submitted.

ADMISSION PROCESS 

There are four steps to the admissions process: transcript evaluation, apply, application review, and admission.

Step 1: Transcript Evaluation - Request a transcript evaluation by emailing unofficial transcript(s) to   wconregistrar@duke.edu. In return, the College will provide you with a confirmation of transferable courses.

Step 2: Apply - Applicants who have completed or in the process of completing 45 credit hours of the required general education courses, and received approval of these credit hours by the College submits application.

Step 3: Application Review - All applicants are holistically reviewed after receipt of specified materials listed under Step 2 and3 of the Admission Requirements.

Step 4: Admission - is granted to the applicant upon completion, review and approval of all 60 credit hours. The applicant must also meet all admission requirements for matriculation into the nursing division.

The applicant must respond to the offer of acceptance and pay the nonrefundable enrollment fee in the application portal. This fee will hold a seat in the cohort.

Once accepted, a student may request to delay matriculation one semester. Those with special circumstances may request an extension of this time period from the Coordinator of Student Affairs. Any further delay will necessitate reapplication to the College.

All the admission requirements must be completed prior to the first day of orientation.

Step 2: Complete the following: 

  • Non-refundable application fee of $100
  • United States Citizen or the United States Lawful Permanent Resident
  • Minimum 45 of 60 general education credit hours completed from an accredited college or university at the time of application submission.
    • Submit official transcripts from all institutions attended to wconregistrar@duke.edu
    • If you are currently enrolled in some courses, have your school submit a proof of enrollment or official transcript that includes the courses enrolled in to wconregistrar@duke.edu
  • TEAS exam minimum scores required:
    • English: 75 (average of English and Language usage and Reading)
    • Math: 70
    • Science: 70
  • Contact information for two references (1 of each or 2 academic):
    • Academic – academic advisor or a teaching professor who has taught you in a collegiate environment that can attest to your academic abilities
    • Professional – work related (supervisor or manager)
  • Official high school transcript, diploma or GED certificate
  • If English is not your native language, please submit TOEFL iBT (Test of English as a Foreign Language Internet-based Test) scores. A minimum 100 total score and 25 per section is required for admission.
  • If you attended a higher education institution outside of the United States, you would need to have your foreign transcripts evaluated by the World Education Services
  • Your application will be reviewed within 2 weeks of receiving your application and all required materials. You will receive more information about your admission status upon review of your application.

 

APPLICATION REVIEW

Step 3: Submit/Complete the following:

Completion of the ATI TEAS, a preadmission test, is a requirement for students. Students must create an ATI student account, and register for the TEAS Online Remote Proctored Exam.

Step 4: Submit/Complete the following: 

  • Submit $100 non-refundable enrollment fee to accept your offer of admission
  • Complete any remaining general education courses and send all official transcripts including high school transcript to wconregistrar@duke.edu
  • Before orientation, more information will be shared regarding several requirements to complete before orientation. These include:
    • Criminal background check*
    • Alcohol and Drug testing*
    • Proof of Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association*
    • Proof of Health Insurance*
    • Purchase uniform through approved vendor*
  • *Applicants are responsible for costs of these items

Notice of Availability of Watts College of Nursing’s Annual Security Report

Watts College of Nursing’s Annual Security Report is available at: 2024 WCON ASR FINAL REPORT. The report contains information regarding campus safety and security including topics such as: crime reporting policies; law enforcement information, campus alerts (timely warnings and emergency notifications); programs to prevent dating violence, domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking; the procedures the college will follow when one of these crimes is reported; and other matters of importance related to security on campus. The report also contains information about crime statistics for the three most recent calendar years concerning reported crimes that occurred on campus; in noncampus buildings or property owned or controlled by the college or a recognized student organization; and on public property within, or immediately adjacent to and accessible from, the campus.
